On the roads of antiquity

✦

Since 2013, the members, volunteers and collaborators of the Omnis Barbaria Cultural Association have taken part in reenactment festivals, craft fairs and cultural events in Romania and abroad.

We have brought the clothing, weapons and crafts of the ancient peoples to Rome, Moscow, Kernavė, Biskupin and Nowa Słupia, as well as to festivals at home – from the Free Dacians Festival in Baia Mare to Porolissum, Măgura Uroiului and Celtic Transilvania.

International events are an excellent opportunity to bring the importance of Romania's cultural and historical heritage to the attention of audiences abroad.

Natale di Roma

Rome, Italy · April 2015

Celebrating 2768 years since the foundation of Rome, the Gruppo Storico Romano Cultural Association organised several events for the anniversary. This year as well, the Omnis Barbaria Cultural Association took part, together with 50 other associations from Europe – 2000 reenactors from more than 10 countries.

We thank all our members, collaborators and volunteers for their support and for the effort that made our contribution to this event possible.

Times and Epochs

Moscow, Russia · 5–7 June 2015

Members, volunteers and collaborators of the Omnis Barbaria Cultural Association took part in the "Times and Epochs" reenactment festival. The festival takes place in Kolomenskoye Park in Moscow and covers a different historical period every year; the theme for 2015 was "Rome and its neighbours".

Dymarki Świętokrzyskie

Nowa Słupia, Poland · August 2015

We attended the 49th edition of the Dymarki Świętokrzyskie archaeological festival. Research into the traces of ancient metallurgy in the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mountains began in 1955, and in 1967 it became a public demonstration event. Its craft workshops recreate everyday life in Roman times and set side by side two very different worlds that existed together: the Roman world and the world of the so-called barbarians.

Our trip to Poland would not have been possible without the support of the daily newspaper "Informația Zilei" from Satu Mare, whom we thank once again.

Civil and Military Crafts in Ancient Dacia

Satu Mare · 31 May 2014 · organised by Omnis Barbaria

With financial support from Satu Mare City Hall, the Satu Mare Local Council and the "G. M. Zamfirescu" Cultural Centre, we organised the festival "Meșteșuguri civile și militare în Antica Dacie" (Civil and Military Crafts in Ancient Dacia).

The programme included a parade of ancient civil and military costumes, and demonstration and hands-on workshops for the public: pottery, blacksmithing, weaving on an ancient upright loom, making chainmail and archery.
